Precision Rifle HUD - Tutorial
Timer Set Up
The first step in using Precision Rifle HUD is to set the Timer Duration. This can be done in the Settings page, get there by tapping the Gear icon at the top of the Main View. The “Duration” will determine how many seconds are on the count down when you start the timer. To adjust this, tap the “Duration (Sec):” label, when it is green then you can spin the crown to adjust the seconds up or down. This (green to adjust) feature is used throughout the app, remember it for later
Audio Packet
Now that we have an idea of how many seconds are on the clock, we can add audio queues. Tap the pencil icon right of “Audio Packet”, this opens a list view where you can edit or add Audio Packets. To add a new Audio Packet, tap the plus on the top right.
Rifle Profile
The next piece we need to set up is a Rifle Profile. This will store the ballistic and wind data for use later. To do this, hit the pencil icon right of “Rifle Profile” and add a new Profile. The “Roll/Pitch” section is used if you are mounting the watch onto a rifle. This lets you ensure the watch accounts for any inconsistencies in the mount. The “Wind - Gun Number” represents the full value wind speed that moves your impact 1 mil at 1000 yards.(Read here for more detail on "Gun Number")
Note Packet
Now that we have a Rifle Profile, we can create a Note Packet to make use of it. Tap the pencil icon right of “Note Packet” and add a new one. A Note Packet a variation on a traditional Dope Card but allows you to create many cards and swipe through them as needed.
An “Auto Table” allows you to enter the distances for various targets, then will generate a table with drop and wind data (we will set wind speed later) based on your selected Rifle Profile. Enter the distances in the top text field, separating each one with a space. So a target every 100 yards would be “200 300 400 500”.
Environmentals
To get correct wind holds, be sure to set the wind speed and direction in the “Environmentals” section of the settings page. If the watch is worn on the wrist, then the “On Wrist” target direction is used to estimate wind holds. If the watch is mounted to the rifle, then the wind holds will update live as you change your direction of fire
On Rifle
Use the “On Wrist On Rifle” toggle in the Settings page to tell the app how the watch is being used
When the watch is mounted “On Rifle”, you can add a Bubble Level, Inclinometer, and Compass to the main view
Tap the toggle next to “Roll” to add the Bubble Level. Adjust the “Roll Fov” (Field of View) to change how sensitive the bubble movement is. Or change the “Roll Center” to adjust the size of the sweet spot (where the watch is considered level)
Turning on the “Pitch” feature will add an Inclinometer to the view, allow you to get accurate measurements for high angle shooting
Finally, turning on the “Compass” will add a….. Compass to the top of the main view
